Tilly's Beach Hotel: A Forgotten Gem

Nestled in the serene landscape of Mount Lavinia, Tilly's Beach Hotel was a symbol of charm and luxury. Established in the early 20th century, it was a favorite retreat for locals and tourists alike. However, the hotel met a tragic end in July 1983 when it was set ablaze during the civil unrest in Sri Lanka. Despite its historical significance, the hotel was never renovated. The Sri Lankan government is still in search of the hotel's owners or inheritors, but to date, no one has come forward to claim it.

The once vibrant and bustling establishment now stands as a somber reminder of a turbulent period in Sri Lanka's history. The ruins of Tilly's Beach Hotel echo with the memories of the past, waiting for a revival that might never come.
